At the end of the 1990s, a war melodrama directed by Ryszard Brylski, based on Marek Sołtysik’s novel, “Deborah”, was released. The production, in which the main role was played by the already experienced Renata Dancewicz, was also the debut for 23-year-old Katarzyna Pakosińska. Before she linked her future with cabaret, she took her first steps on parallel paths – acting and journalism.
Which scene was missing in “Deborah”?
So, in 1995, while still studying at the Faculty of Polish Studies at the University of Warsaw, Pakosińska found herself on the set of “Deborah”, where she played the role of the title character’s cousin. In an interview with “Playboy”, the actress admitted that she very much regretted that one scene was missing from the film: “Mhm, sometimes I regret that the film ‘Deborah’ did not include, unfortunately for you, the scene of us bathing together in the bathtub.”
When the actresses met on the set, Renata Dancewicz already had several film roles under her belt. Before “Deborah”, she starred in, among others, “The Marriage Comedy”, “Samowolce” and “Półkownik Kwiatkowski”. For Katarzyna Pakosińska, it was her first appearance on the big screen. While still a student, the actress became involved with the Stara Prochownia Theater in Warsaw, and after completing a two-year journalism course, she started working as a journalist and editor of programs at TV Polonia.
Pakosińska also hosted a breakfast program on TVP1, “Coffee or tea?” and cooperated with Program III of the Polish Radio. In 2011, the actress broke up with Kabaret Moranych Niepokoju, which she founded with her student friends in 1996. “Through my optimistic, trusting rose-colored glasses, I didn’t notice in time that something bad was happening in the group… When the manager said: ‘You’re going or you’re leaving’… I took my suitcase and left…” – said the actress in an interview for biweekly “Viva!”.
