The culmination of the 61st edition was the concert “Lovers are among us”, during which Janusz Kondratowicz’s songs were played. The poet had many timeless hits to his credit, which he wrote for the biggest Polish stars. He was the author of such works as, among others: “Flowers in my hair”, “I have the world in my arms” by Zdzisława Sośnicka, “So much sun in the whole city” by Anna Jantar or “Paper moon” by Halina Frąckowiak. It was the latter that Natalia Kukulska decided to sing during the event.
Songs by Janusz Kondratowicz at the festival in Opole. Jacek Cygan asked Kukulska about her first contact with the poet
It cannot be denied that the singer’s performance was one of the most touching, and immediately afterwards it became a bit nostalgic. The person responsible for conducting the concert decided to ask her about the memories she had with the lyricist, who had been dead for almost a decade. – It is a known fact that men carry women in their arms, but sparrows chirp that Janusz Kondratowicz carried you in his arms. In what situation? – . After these words, the artist did not hide her emotion, directly admitting that Kondratowicz was present in her life almost from its first moments. – The worst thing is that I don’t remember it. But you know why? Because it was a very unconscious moment for me, she said mysteriously.
It turned out that it was Kondratowicz who took her mother and her from the hospital just after her birth. Why? – My father couldn’t come to pick me up then, Janusz Kondratowicz came and carried me out of the hospital when my mother gave birth to me – said the artist. – He is an important man to me, and not only because of that – she emphasized after a while. This brought back more memories.
Kondratowicz was Jantar’s friend and her daughter’s step-uncle. Kukulska also mentioned Halina Frąckowiak
admitted that Kondratowicz not only wrote songs for her mother, but also was her dear friend for many years. For this reason, he often appeared in her family home, becoming a step-relative for her. – First I said “Uncle, can I ask a question?”, then I said “Janusz” – . As a child, he watched her grow up and accompanied her through difficult times. She could count on his support while growing up and he gave her good advice as she embarked on her career path.
There were also warm words for , whose song she sang on stage that evening, because the singer was close to her mother, but also to the poet. – From here I would like to greet the performer of this song, Halina Frąckowiak – she said to the camera. – Apart from the fact that she performed many of Janusz’s songs, she was his closest friend who accompanied him until his last moments – added Kukulska at the end.
