Jacek Cygan’s failed joke at the festival in Opole

“What a strange profession it is: songwriter, lyricist… Janusz and I sometimes joked that it was like in a pre-war story when the judge asks the accused: ‘the accused’s profession?’ and the accused says: ‘artist’. “And what does the accused do?” ‘Umbrellas’. The court says: ‘Umbrellas? And an artist?’ The accused says: ‘Your honor, make an umbrella!'” concluded Jacek Cygan, waiting for loud applause. and the audience’s laughter. However, they arrived rather timidly only after a while.

“Didn’t you like it?” – asked the artist, confused by the audience’s reaction – Janusz and I were joking about making such umbrellas. For you,” he concluded.

During Sunday’s concert in Opole, the artists sang Janusz Kondratowicz’s greatest hits. The event was opened by Kayah, who performed the song “Poręsz tu” (Grand Prix in Opole in 1966).
