Crassula ovata is called the happiness tree or the money tree. It grows very slowly, in a year it can lengthen the shoots by only a few centimeters. It has fleshy, ovoid and shiny leaves. Small white or pink spots appear at the ends of shoots only in older specimens. The plant does not have high requirements and is easy to grow, which is why it is so often present in our homes.
What does the tree of happiness look like? Put it on the windowsill and it will thank you
The tree of happiness needs a lot of sun, so it is best to place it on the windowsill of southern windows. It needs at least four hours of direct sunlight during the day. The temperature in the room where it is located should be approximately 22 degrees C. Crassula grows best in permeable soil.
It can be planted in special soil for succulents and cacti and supplemented with coarse sand in a 3:1 ratio. Place a layer of small stones at the bottom of the pot and cover it with soil. Does the happiness tree cleans the air? It stands out from other plants
According to the Chinese, Crassula ovata dispels bad energy and helps you relax. However, these are not its only properties. It is one of the few plants that emit oxygen accumulated during the day at night and absorb carbon dioxide. This mechanism is called CAM photosynthesis (Crassulacean Acid Metabolism). While in other plants the stomata are open during the day, in the crassula they are closed. This protects the plant against water loss and means that oxygen has no way to escape, so it accumulates in the tree. The stomata open only at night and then release oxygen and absorb toxic organic compounds. Thanks to this, the plant purifies the air. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
