This Wednesday, Primavera Sound witnessed a true ‘miracle’ with the spectacular appearance of Carmen Machi in the role of Montserrat Puig Baró, resurrecting the character to lead the live debut of Stella Maris, the fictional group from the series ‘The Messiah’ created by Los Javis. Machi, carried on a throne of flowers as she passed through Easter, proclaimed: “I am Montserrat Baró. I have risen. Long live electronic music!”, unleashing the euphoria of the public.

The group, led by Amaia Romero (Cecilia), along with Mabel Olea (Julia), Valeria Collado (Neus), Ania Guijarro (Beth) and Sara Roch (Nora), performed a repertoire that fuses religious pop and K-Pop, including songs like ‘Amada madre’ and ‘Stella Maris’. With music by Hidrogenesse and visuals by Elena Rodríguez, the show was full of references to the series and featured the live collaboration with Albert Plawho presented a techno version of ‘A Religious Experience’ by Enrique Iglesias.

Machi’s appearance, at the most anticipated moment of the event, was the climax of a performance that had months of preparation and rehearsals. The actress, who plays the group’s mother in the series, brought unmatched charisma and closed the performance with an end to the party that included castles of the castellers of Castelldefels and the presence of Los Javis, who did not disappoint with their promise of magic and color.
