Stanisław Angel, dethroned from his “position” as the owner of the most famous block of flats in Warsaw’s Ursynów district, intimidated, followed, surveilled and terrorized the residents. He still strived for success, took credit for it, and was mortally offended when he was compared to a cutthroat. Today, probably no one can imagine that the Angel could have been played by someone else, Roman Wilhelmi played this character brilliantly. However, he had other plans.

Initially, Krzysztof Kowalewski was offered the role of the host of the house, but he refused. So someone else was in Stanisław Bareja’s crosshairs. – Fortunately for , he came to the set drunk and was exchanged for Wilhelmi. Bareja was responsible for the actors and he encouraged them to play. It wasn’t difficult because the actors liked working with him, said Janusz Płoński, author of “Alternative 4. A guide to the series and reality”, in an interview. This other actor, as stated by, among others, Maciej Replewicz, the author of the biography of Stanisław Bareja, was Ludwik Pak, i.e. Zdzisław Dyrman from “Miś”, the milkman from “I don’t like Monday” and Peresada from “Siekierezada”.
He has had many roles in films, TV series and, above all, theater. However, it was no secret to anyone that Pak had been struggling with addiction for years. The addiction affected not only his appearance, and therefore the types of roles in which he was cast, but also his career. Maciej Replewicz said directly that the actor was a “talent dissolved in alcohol”. After a memorable performance in Bareja’s “Miś”, in which he played the role of drunkard Zdzisław Dyrman, “basically”, Pak received an offer from the director to star in his latest series.

Pak showed up for test photos, even took an advance payment, and then… he disappeared. Bareja cast Roman Wilhelmi as the Angel, which turned out to be the best possible choice. Today we cannot imagine any other host. However, the director has not yet put a finger on Pak. When the actor found himself, he was offered the role of Józef Balcerek, a pigeon breeder who is forced to move from Targówek to ul. Alternatives 4. Pak appeared on the set again and disappeared again. – His successor, Witek Pyrkosz, appeared somewhat by accident. He was sitting in the TV cafeteria eating dinner. Staszek noticed him and invited him to the set to play the role of Balcerek – Balcerek’s wife in the series, Zofia Czerwińska.
In 1985, Pak received another chance to come back, and this time he did not miss it. He played Mr. Peresada in the film “Siekierezada” by Witold Leszczyński. A year later, he received an award for the best supporting role at the Gdynia Film Festival. It was his last big role. Ludwik Pak died on December 7, 1988 at the age of 58. – He was a wonderful man, very talented, liked by everyone. Such a man’s soul – his brother, Czesław Pak.
