The ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 9, but will not be televised. This year he has faced questioning for his alleged lack of racial diversity.
Belfast, Kenneth Branagh’s autobiographical film, and The Power of the Dog (“The power of the dog”), a western starring Benedict Cumberbatch, top the nominations for the 2022 Golden Globes.
Both movies have seven nominations each, including Best Drama Film.
They follow, with four nominations each, Don’t Look Up (“Don’t look up”), King Richard (“King Richard: A Winning Family”), Licorice Pizza Y West Side Story (“Love without barriers”).

The Golden Globes are usually the highest-profile awards, second only to the Oscars, but the next ceremony, scheduled for January 9, will not be televised as in previous years.
The NBC television network, which traditionally broadcast the ceremony in the United States, canceled its broadcast in 2022 after a series of revelations, including a lack of diversity among voters.
Earlier this year it was revealed that None of the 87 members of the secretive organization behind the awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), is black..
A coalition of 100 Hollywood public relations firms accused the organization of “Discriminatory behavior, lack of professionalism, lack of ethics and alleged financial corruption”, and said they would advise the stars they represent not to work with the HFPA.
The HFPA’s membership and rules were later revised, but it remains to be seen if any of this year’s nominees will withdraw as a result of the controversy.
Who is nominated this year?
Branagh has two nominations for Belfast, the black-and-white account of his childhood in Northern Ireland, for best director and best screenplay, while Caitriona Balfe and Jamie Dornan – supporting actors in the film – are also recognized for their roles.
Cumberbatch and her co-star Kirsten Dunst are nominated for their performance in The power of the dog Netflix, while Jane Campion to face Branagh in script and direction.

However, it is not known if other potential candidates have been left out of the nominations on their own initiative due to the controversy surrounding the HFPA.
The organization said it “accommodated filmmakers / studios who requested that their content be considered only for specific categories.”

What was the controversy?
Last February, the newspaper Los Angeles Times revealed that there were no black members in the HFPA and suggested that voters could be swayed by promotions and giveaways from production companies.
The scandal led to Tom Cruise to return his three Golden Globes in protest and Scarlett Johansson to call for a “fundamental reform.”
In response, the HFPA took action These include recruiting 21 new “predominantly diverse” members, appointing a diversity director, and having their members receive diversity, equality and inclusion training.
There’s also a new oversight committee and a five-year partnership with the National Association for the Advancement of Black People (NAACP).
Winners will be announced on January 9, but the event will not be televised and Big name nominees and winners are likely to stay away.
The Critics’ Choice Awards took the place of the Golden Globes in television programming on that date.
The Golden Globes hope to be welcomed back to Hollywood and television in 2023, if the organizers manage to convince the film industry that they have put their house in order. (I)
