Edyta Górniak’s performance was the first in Poland’s history and remains the best in terms of result to this day. In 1994, the singer represented the country on stage in Dublin with the song “To nie ja” and thus won second place in the 39th edition of the competition. And although three decades have passed since then, no other artist has managed to repeat this success.

She has already mentioned her desire to perform at Eurovision again several times, but no specific declaration has been made by her. Only the 30th anniversary of her participation turned out to be such a special occasion that she decided to try her hand at it again. She entered the preselections with the song “I Remember”, which she recorded especially for this event. Ultimately, however, it was not her who represented the country in Malmo, Sweden, with the song “The Tower”, but was eliminated at the semi-final stage.
It turned out that in the qualifying rounds, in which decisions were made by a 5-person jury, she only took 18th place. As she explained, this was influenced by, among others, that she did not comply with the regulations, as she announced her willingness to participate a week after the deadline for submitting applications. – At the last minute, I decided to enter it in the competition, at the suggestion of my closest people. Unfortunately, I did it after some time. I literally exceeded these specified dates and times. It doesn’t matter because it wasn’t my first, main goal. In fact, the most important thing for me is that we can celebrate this beautiful anniversary together – , emphasizing that she is nevertheless satisfied with the result and grateful to the jurors for the points awarded.
Górniak’s new song is already conquering the Internet. She wanted to represent Poland at Eurovision 2024
Already in February, Górniak promised that “I remember” would soon see the light of day, but this did not happen. She postponed the premiere, first because of her stay in Asia, and then because of the start of Eurovision. Finally, on May 28, 2024, the song debuted on all popular streaming platforms, breaking popularity records.
The song, like the vast majority of the diva’s repertoire, is a melancholic ballad whose lyrics refer to “To nie ja”. Although it is almost entirely in English, there are two verses in the native language. – I am still a blank page among you. I still know, it’s not me – sings the star. There has already been an avalanche of comments under the video on YouTube.
