Maryla Rodowicz had to quickly stop the concert. The organizers ordered an evacuation

Maryla Rodowicz’s performance during the Mokotonalia festival in Warsaw was interrupted due to a violent storm. The audience evacuated from the event area gathered in the subway, where they sang one of the artist’s songs. The recordings went online.

On May 25, Mokotonalia took place in Warsaw, an event organized by five Warsaw universities and the Mokotów district. Julia Rocka, Paweł Domagała and Maryla Rodowicz appeared on stage. The last singer was greeted with thunderous applause, and the audience’s enthusiasm did not diminish even with each subsequent song. Unfortunately, the 78-year-old managed to sing only four songs before a storm broke out over the city.

Taking into account the safety of the event participants, the organizers of Mokotonalia ordered a sudden evacuation. “Due to the weather conditions, we have decided to end the mass event. Your safety is our priority,” read the official statement published on social media. The concert participants moving towards the exit chanted loudly “Maryla” for a long time.

Part of the audience took shelter in a nearby metro station, where – without Maryla Rodowicz’s presence – they sang a song called “Małgośka”. Recordings from this surprising finale of Mokotonalia were posted on social media and quickly reached the artist herself. “Buuuu, a thunderstorm interrupted my concert at Mokotonalia, but that’s what my audience sang in the Wilanowska metro,” the singer commented on Instagram.

Mokotonalia is an event co-organized by 5 different universities: Warsaw School of Economics, Military University of Technology, Kozminski University, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University and the Fire Academy. This year, Juwenalia took place on May 24 and 25.
