“Don’t look up.” Film stars for Gazeta.pl: This project has shown how important cooperation is

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Amy Maizner, an astronomer who was a scientific production consultant. It was she who, on our behalf, asked Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Adam McKay, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, and Kid Cudi, who were present, what they had learned from each other.

“Don’t look up.” Jonah Hill: We’ve been very depressed the last two years

“Jonah, I think you should answer,” said Jennifer Lawrence when she heard our question. Everyone on stage started laughing. – Yeah, what did you learn from all of us? echoed the lead actor Tyler Perry. Jonah Hill joked that he was actually seeing them for the first time in his life, so he hadn’t had time to learn much from them, other than that they were charming.

– Honestly? I don’t know – said the actor shortly after. – I’ve been friends with Leo for a long time. I have always respected him immensely for how many times he has already proved that [w sprawach związanych z ekologią i środowiskiem naturalnym – przyp. red.] can go from words to deeds. He is great not only as a friend, but above all as someone who sets a real example by his behavior, Hill explained and added:

While working on this movie, I realized how depressed we were all over the past two years. I found myself in one room with all these geniuses – some of them I know well, some of them I have only just met, but I respect all of them. It was wonderful to laugh with them and create something while we were confined to our homes. Emotionally, it meant a lot to me.

Kid Cudi, who in 2021, apart from “Don’t Look Up”, worked on several other film projects also joined the conversation. – I got into it with a lot of nervousness. I guess it’s easy to imagine: this topic, this cast … The first day was bloody stressful. But as I watched Adam, Tyler, Cate, Ariana, their involvement and relaxation, I also got this backlash – recalled the rapper and singer, playing DJ Chello.

– I was only there for three days, and yet I felt warmly welcomed by everyone, like in a family. And this is the first time I met Tyler, who I am a huge fan of, which was great. I did not expect that he is so tall, so … packed – added Cudi to the amusement of the whole team. – Earlier, I spoke to Kathryn Hahn who told me a bit about Adam. I had to be prepared for anything, so the stress was even greater. In the end, everything turned out to be a great experience – concluded the artist.

On the blackboard, Adam McKay confessed that Jennifer Lawrence taught him the following: “Even if we think we are unknown who, we all have the beating heart of a child.” “She also taught me justice, real justice,” added the director. – Where are you going with this? Lawrence cut him off. “You can’t just put on a mask and beat crime,” said McKay.

This film showed me how important cooperation is to me. We were in the middle of a pandemic, and there was no vaccine yet, which we now have and should use. We had to stay as far apart as possible, it was crazy. We found a way to be creative, which was touching. During all the years that I have worked in film and television, this is what I love the most. We had one of the most unique experiences with this group of people [w mojej prywatnej historii]

– emphasized the creator of “Don’t look up”.

“Don’t look up.” What is the movie about?

Lawrence plays astronomy student Kate Dibiasky, who, along with Dr. Randallem Mindy (DiCaprio) discovers that a comet is rushing through the solar system. The problem is that it is on a collision course with Earth. As if that were not enough, no one cares about her. It turns out that warning mankind about a deadly threat leads to many awkward situations.

With the help of dr. Oglethorpe’s (Morgan) Kate and Randall storm the media, starting with the office of the carefree President Orléans (Streep) and her son Jason (Hill), who is also her chief of staff, and ending on the optimistic morning show “The Daily Rip” hosted by Brie (Blanchett) and Jack (Perry). With only six months left until the comet collides with Earth, mastering the 24-hour cycle of information and getting the attention of a social media-fascinated public before it’s too late turns out to be a shockingly comical experience.

The movie can be watched on Netflix from December 24.
