A trip to a sanatorium is an excellent opportunity to take care of your health, and at the same time go sightseeing, meet new people and spend time in an interesting way. What to do when the thought of the upcoming deadline makes you nervous, but it turns out that it no longer suits you due to an important life situation?

For comparison, according to data from 2021, 187 sanatoriums operated during this period. The demand is huge, so sometimes you have to wait many months for an appointment. What to do when the time is fast approaching and an important life situation has suddenly occurred to you, which makes you have to give up? Does this mean that the trip is canceled and you will have to be patient again until another one is assigned to you? Not necessarily.

Can I change the date of my trip to the sanatorium? You must meet specific criteria

Not everyone realizes that the trip to can be postponed. For this to happen, however, you must meet specific criteria and submit appropriate documents to the National Health Fund. There are quite a lot of formalities, but it’s worth a try. First of all, as soon as you find out that the date does not suit you (necessarily before the start of the stay), you must return the confirmed referral to the appropriate NFZ branch as soon as possible. It must be accompanied by a written justification, in which you explain why you are forced to resign, along with evidence that this is the case. Appropriate argumentation is key to ensuring that the deadline does not expire. Especially since there are no ready-made conclusions and no list of circumstances that the National Health Fund looks at with a favorable eye. So make sure your explanations are accurate and sufficient.

How to justify changing the date to the sanatorium? The reason must be serious

Based on the documents provided, the National Health Fund will check whether your explanation is credible. If so (e.g. an accident, illness, or sometimes the inability to take leave), a new date of stay will be set without unnecessary paperwork. If not, or you do not submit it at all, returning the referral will be tantamount to canceling the entire trip.
