The iconic couple was created on screen by Kate Winslet. Now it turns out that not only the Hollywood star was close to not getting the role, but also his on-screen partner.

As soon as the castings for “Titanic” were announced, the biggest stars of world cinema began to express their willingness to participate in the production. The list of people interested in the role of Rose included, among others: Gwyneth Paltrow, , Nicole Kidman, Cameron Diaz, Sharon Stone and even… . However, from the very beginning, the director had his eye on Claire Danes, who became famous for playing the title character alongside DiCaprio in the adaptation of “Romeo and Juliet” directed by Baz Luhrmann. – There was a lot of interest in me, but honestly, I was recording romantic scenes with Leo in Mexico, where they were supposed to shoot “Titanic”, and I just didn’t feel it in myself – on the Armchair Expert podcast.

According to her story, the star was also hesitant about whether he should play Jack, although he had previously made every effort to get the role. – I remember that Leo and I had a common agent at the time and we were in the office. I was standing on the balcony, which is funny, and Leo had this rented red convertible and he was driving around in the parking lot. I knew he was thinking about whether to make this movie or not. Finally, he just looked at me and said, “I’m in,” she recalled. However, she did not feel ready to take on such a big acting challenge and ultimately refused.
