Before the screening of the film “The Count of Monte Cristo”, one of the people caught the attention of photojournalists with a dress with a long white train with the image of Jesus on it. It was strikingly reminiscent of a frame from Franco Zeffirelli’s 1977 film, “Jesus of Nazareth.” There, Robert Powell played the role of Christ.

The film, which is an adaptation of the story created by Alexandre Dumas, featured, among others: Pierre Niney, Anaïs Demoustier, Laurent Lafitte, Pierfrancesco Favino, Anamaria Vartolomei and Bastien Bouillon. Favino is one of the festival’s jurors this year.
This year’s Cannes Film Festival lasts until May 25. The winners will be announced during the closing gala. The president of this year’s jury is Greta Gerwig.
