I moved to Wrocław to study. I was immediately fascinated by this city and I knew that I had a future with it. However, one of the biggest nightmares was commuting to the university by public transport. Especially after a certain incident that still gives me goosebumps just thinking about it.
“I didn’t pay attention to the seat back then. Now I think this could have been the moment when it all started.”
Summer, shorts and public transport, as it turns out, are not a good combination. The heat was almost 30 degrees, the bus was almost empty, so I sat in one of the seats. Now I think this may have been the moment it all started. A few days passed and strange red spots began to appear on my skin. When I saw the rash, I couldn’t believe it. At first I thought it was an allergy, but the itching became more and more severe day by day. It was unbearable at night. I finally went to see a doctor.
And now it was a surprise – scabies. I didn’t expect this. I have never dealt with this disease before. I didn’t realize how easy it was to get infected. The doctor explained to me that direct contact with the skin of an infected person or contact with infected objects is enough. Then I realized that I probably got infected on that bus. After purchasing the ointment, we started washing all the clothes and bedding at high temperature. The entire treatment process was quite tedious, but fortunately effective. The itching slowly subsided and I started to feel better. Because of this whole situation, to this day I always stand on the bus. I will never make this mistake on public transport again in the summer.
