Daytime rates on the set of the Netflix series “1670” have been revealed. “You can immediately feel like the guy”

Information has appeared on the Internet about the amounts offered to extras for participating in the recordings of new episodes of the series “1670”. The stakes are controversial, but they do not differ from industry standards.

The series “” turned out to be a real hit on Netflix. “It surprised me brutally. And basically with everything: the form, the cast, the way it was made, acted, edited, directed and written. It was an extremely pleasant surprise, because in my immodest opinion it is not only one of the best Polish Netflix series, but also one of the most successful comedy productions of this year (and maybe even the last few years). I am so indecently delighted and enchanted that I don’t know what to praise the most,” Justyna Bryczkowska from Gazeta.pl wrote about the production in her review.

PLN 10 per hour. This is how much extras will earn on the set of “1670”

Further great opinions from critics, distinctions and awards resulted in the announcement of the second season of the story about peasants living in Adamczej, divided between Andrzej and Jan Paweł. Preparations for new episodes of the series began, among other things, with casting. On May 15 and 16, candidates for the roles of peasants gathered in Kolbuszowa. The producers of the series announced that this would not be the last chance to star in the popular production, and there will be more auditions.

There was no shortage of people willing to be part of the next season of “1670”. However, the vision of working on the set of a huge Netflix hit is much more attractive than the remuneration for it. Extras were offered PLN 10 per hour of work. “I won’t say that they help you feel like a serf from the very beginning,” comments Piotr, who shared a document from the company responsible for the casting online.

Extras who will play the role of a serf in the series “1670” can count on PLN 120 for a 12-hour shooting schedule. Of course, this does not mean playing for all hours, but people who agree to the terms must be available to the creators of the series at the indicated time. “The shooting will take place from Monday to Friday. Meetings may start in the early morning. We will expect high availability from most of the interns,” reads the document obtained by the portal.

“The remuneration for photos is settled in the form of a daily wage. The daily wage is a lump sum up to 12 hours of work. Each hour of work over 12 hours is overtime in the amount of 10% of the daily wage for each commenced hour,” we read further. Kamed, a subcontractor of Akson Studio – the producer of the series, is responsible for the recruitment of extras.

“A professional agency specializing in this field is responsible for casting the extras for the series in most film and series productions in Poland, and in each production the rates for the work vary depending on the nature and scope of the role of each extra and “are settled according to flat rates agreed in the contract, not per hour,” representatives of Akson Studio responded to a request for comment from rekrutacja.biz.

“That’s how much you usually get paid for being an extra”

However, as the Wirtualna Polska portal notes, “starvation” rates for extras are standard in the industry. Compared to other productions, the remuneration from the set of “1670” is not bad at all. Barbara Tukendorf, an episode artist and extra, points out in an interview with the portal: – Sure, the rate of around PLN 100 per day of shooting, and that’s how much you usually earn for being an extra, is not very high. But please remember that sometimes it’s only a few hours of work, and you usually get something to eat.

Wyborcza.biz also quotes comments found online about the rates that applied to extras on the sets of other high-profile Polish productions. “I was an extra on the set of the film ‘Clergy’ in 2017 for PLN 60 for a whole day of shooting, which lasted 10-12 hours. I treated it more as an adventure and the opportunity to see everything from behind the scenes than as paid work. It may be similar here,” writes Kuba . Others say PLN 70 for 10 hours on the set of “Cold War” and PLN 50 for five hours of work while filming the Polish production in 2017.
