Breakfast is the most important meal of the day – that’s what our parents and grandparents told us. They knew perfectly well what they were saying. After a night of fasting, the body needs a solid dose of energy. If we rush out of the house “hungry”, we will quickly feel tired and it will be difficult for us to concentrate. What’s more, we will crave snacks that are not necessarily healthy. That’s why it’s so important to start the day with a good breakfast!
What do the experts say? – A healthy breakfast is a breakfast that will regenerate us after a night’s break and allow us to survive a few hours until the next meal. Its composition should depend on our health condition and lifestyle. Meals rich in protein and fat provide a higher feeling of satiety than those rich in carbohydrates, and I recommend such meals when we have a sedentary job and spend many hours in the office. Especially when we don’t have time for more balanced meals, and the quick appearance of hunger would result in reaching for a candy bar or processed food. This does not mean that you cannot eat oatmeal or yogurt with fruit with a low glycemic index for breakfast. The most important thing here is the composition, i.e. the addition of a product containing protein and fat, e.g. nuts, seeds or seeds. – explains dietitian Agnieszka ¦lusarska-Staniszewska.
So we are planning the breakfast of champions. Cottage cheese with radish, yogurt with fruit or oatmeal are classic dishes that we like to eat in the morning. Traditionally, these are proposals with the addition of dairy products, but you can also do it differently!
Plant-based, delicious
It is a wonderful and delicious alternative to milk and milk products. These are plant products prepared on the basis of soy, nuts, almonds, oats or rice, such as plant drinks and yogurt alternatives from Alpro. They will work well in any dish, diversify our menu and enrich it with new flavors. Depending on the variant, Alpro products may be a source of protein, fiber, calcium and vitamins, e.g. B2, B12, D2 or E.
It is worth a try, especially since the authors of the report entitled “Plate of the Future”, developed by the Interdisciplinary Center for Analysis and Cooperation of Food for the Future, recommend the use of “a diet based predominantly on plant protein sources”. Half of what we eat every day should be vegetables and fruits; one fourth – whole grain cereal products and one quarter products that are a source of protein, especially of plant origin, i.e. legumes and their products, nuts, and finally, in a small amount eat fish, eggs, dairy products and lean meat.
