Those clouds of flies swirling together over the water? This means that it is mating time. Do you know when female biting flies switch from flower nectar to human blood? When they mate. There are many, many species of flies that do not bite humans, so you don’t have to avoid every lake at dawn and dusk. But if you know there are biting midges nearby, then avoid it instead of shooing it away.

Eat or plant garlic in your garden. Mosquitoes cannot stand its smell

Flies and all insects hate the smell of garlic. You can make homemade garlic spray to repel these little creatures and avoid being bitten. All you need is a few drops of garlic oil, garlic juice or syrup and a small amount of water. Spray the mixture on the bushes or walls of your house or gazebo and the midges will escape.
