Viewers do not always agree with the critics’ opinions, which is clearly visible in the list of the most watched English-language films on Netflix. A significant number of them have terrible reviews from reviewers. The worst is… number one.

The offer of streaming services available in Poland may be overwhelming for many people. Every month, new new releases or licensed classics appear on the platforms. Critics’ reviews and lists of items most frequently watched by other viewers help in choosing a screening. However, reviewers’ opinions often do not coincide with the popularity of a given title.

Here are the 10 most watched movies on Netflix

The website digitalspy.com has published the latest list of the most frequently watched English-language films available on Netflix. Interestingly, critics rated the one ranked first out of all ten titles the worst. First things first. “Tyler Rake: Salvation” took 10th place on the list. It’s a typical Sam Hargrave action movie with Chris Hemsworth in the lead role. A fearless mercenary undertakes the most dangerous mission of his career – he must save the kidnapped son of a businessman – reads the production description. Critics rated the film 67 percent. on the freshness scale on Rotten Tomatoes.

Right after the film with Hemsworth, there was a great Netflix hit “Glass Onion”, the second part of Rian Johnson’s crime comedy with Daniel Craig in the main role. This time, detective Benoit Blanc goes to Greece to solve the murder and select the perpetrator from a colorful group of suspects. Critics and viewers agreed on the assessment of the production. The film has surpassed 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. on the freshness scale. Eighth place in the ranking is “Mother” with Jennifer Lopez. The action thriller tells the story of an assassin pursued by dangerous enemies who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she abandoned many years earlier.

In seventh place was Robert Rodriguez’s adventure, family production “We Will Be Heroes”. When Earth’s heroes are kidnapped by alien invaders, their children must join forces and learn to cooperate to save not only their parents, but also the entire world – we read in the film’s description. This time, the critics turned out to be much kinder to the title than the audience. Reviewers rated the production 74, while viewers rated it only 42%. on the freshness scale on Rotten Tomatoes.

“Gray Man” took sixth place in the ranking, proof that a star cast does not guarantee good reviews. In the Russo brothers’ film we can admire Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. This is a title about an elusive CA officer who discovers the agency’s compromising secrets. He is followed by a ruthless sociopath agent who has placed a bounty on his head. This is another case where reactions to a film depend heavily on who watches it. Critics rated the work at only 45%. on the freshness scale on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers awarded the title 90 percent. In the middle of the pack is the thriller “Leave the World Behind” from 2023. Director and screenwriter Sam Esmail follows a family’s weekend getaway that goes horribly wrong when a cyberattack renders their devices useless and two strangers show up at the door. Starring: Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke.

Netflix’s “Glass Onion” was a hit, but viewers are more willing to watch other titles

In fourth place in the ranking was the film “Don’t Open Your Eyes”. Susanne Bier’s sci-fi thriller tells the story of a mother who desperately fights to survive in a new reality. He tries to protect his children at all costs. Sandra Bullock played the main role in the production. The podium of the ranking opens with “Project Adam” with Ryan Reynolds. The sci-fi adventure film tells the story of a time-traveling pilot who takes a younger version of himself and his deceased father on his expeditions. Both critics and viewers rated the title at around 70%. on the Rotten Tomatoes scale.

The silver medal in the race for the most watched English-language film on Netflix goes to “Don’t Look Up.” Two astronomers go on a media tour to warn humanity about a deadly comet heading towards Earth – we read in the production description. Adam McKay’s sci-fi comedy drama stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep, among others. The title “Red Note” took first place on the list. This is another Ryan Reynolds movie on the list. The action comedy tells the story of an Interpol agent who tracks down the most wanted art thief. Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot also appeared in the cast. The audience rated the production at 92%. on the Rotten Tomatoes scale.

The critics were merciless. Number one on the list is also the worst-rated film by reviewers of all the previously mentioned titles. The production deserved only 37%. on the freshness scale. “A film is like a bag of chips – you watch it until the end, regretting that you are consuming empty calories,” wrote Łukasz Muszyński from Filmweb about the film. Udita Jhunjhunwala of The New Indian Express called “The Red Notice” “mindless entertainment built on stupid jokes and a weak plot.” Other opinions repeated words such as “trashy”, “banality” and “parody”.
