More than a decade after the end of filming of the series “Ranczo”, it turned out that Królikowski was not the first candidate for this role. Initially, Kuse was to be played by , known from productions such as “The Debt”, “Samowolka” and “Glina”. The actor officially became a cast member and began intensive preparations to portray the character. It was only two weeks before he went on set that he unexpectedly resigned. The producers immediately started looking for his successor, but they did not turn to Królikowski first. Who else had a chance to appear in the hit TVP production?
The star of “With Fire and Sword” was also a candidate for the role of Kuse. Why did he quit?
The owner of one of the largest acting agencies in Poland revealed in an interview for Plejada that he also received an offer to portray Kuse on the screen. However, he was not interested, as he was working on other projects at the time, so he ultimately refused. Gudejko, under whose wing Królikowski was at that time, decided that such an opportunity would not happen again and began to seek employment for him. – It was a coincidence that Paweł’s career blossomed. If it weren’t for the fact that Zbyszek Zamachowski resigned, it could have been different – to be honest. – As soon as I found out that someone else was being sought to play Kuse, I knew that I had to do everything to ensure that Paweł got the role – he recalled.
As we know, the plan ended successfully, and Królikowski created a hero whom the audience loved. His career quickly gained momentum, and he became a permanent fixture in Polish cinema, creating one of the most characteristic characters in the history of television.
