Micha³ Winiewski harshly about Poland at Eurovision. “This circus happens every year”

Micha³ Wi¶niewski spoke out after this year’s Eurovision and the Polish woman’s performance. As one of our representatives who reached very high in the competition, he has a different perspective on the organization of the Polish delegation and the awareness of the viewers themselves.

This year’s competition ended for Poland in the first semi-final. , but took 12th place in the viewers’ vote out of 15 countries competing for promotion. Moldova, Azerbaijan and Iceland were far behind us in the points, having reached the next stage of the competition rather easily in recent years.

Once again in Poland, the pattern of criticism of our candidacy immediately after its announcement, enthusiasm before the performance and criticism immediately after the defeat was repeated. he defended Luna and sharply commented on the mentality of his compatriots.

Eurovision 2024. Michał Wiśniewski harshly about Poles

Luna did not qualify for the Eurovision Final. Some Poles “knew it would be like this”, and those who kept their fingers crossed must come to terms with the fact that our representative did not beat the competition. In the place where Luna is today, years ago there was also Michał Wiśniewski. The musician took part in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, and although he took seventh final position with “Keine Grenzen” in 2003, things didn’t go so smoothly with “Follow My Heart”. The Three of them narrowly missed the Final and returned to Poland on the shield.

The musician defends Luna against her compatriots who, before the competition, instead of supporting her, criticize her:

There’s a bit of this circus every year, so I don’t know why it’s surprising that Poland didn’t make it to the finals. (…) Where does so much bile come from to destroy someone who went to commit suicide? After all, music is not a sport. (…) All you malcontents, organize your representative, the one you want, convince this idiot to go there. I say idiot because it’s like setting yourself up without much support, only to later become a spittoon for all those smart guys who say “Oh, how bad it was, why it didn’t work out, and I knew it from the very beginning.” I’m surprised every time, because it doesn’t matter whether we choose or the jury chooses – everyone makes a spitball out of the Polish representative. And that’s too much butter, that’s not how she was dressed, and that’s not how she sang. People, punch your empty heads, he summed up on social media.

This year’s criticism of Luna was particularly brutal. They talked about her clothes and make-up, and her beauty was ruthlessly attacked. Meanwhile, Luna was only (and as many as) eight points away from advancing to the Final. Iceland liked “The Tower” the most – the volcanic island gave us eight points. We also got decent support from Poles in Great Britain and Ireland – six and seven points respectively. We could count on greater mobilization from the Polish community in other countries, but as you can see, this year other values mattered more than a decent radio song.
