The organizers of Eurovision 2024 banned participants and the audience from carrying the Palestinian flag. The Italian representative had a plan to bypass the ban.

This year’s finals are held in a very tense atmosphere. Before the start, nine countries signed a declaration demanding that Israel be removed from the competition. However, the competition organizers emphasize that the event is apolitical. Some fans of the event accuse them of double standards. When Russia invaded Ukraine she couldn’t appear at Eurovision.

Eurovision 2024. The Italian showed support for Palestine?

Due to the decisions, Palestinian flags were not allowed to be brought into the arena in Malmo. Breaking the ban was immediately enforced. You can find a recording online in which one of the people present near the stage was taken away because he was waving Palestinian colors during Israel’s performance.

Despite the express ban, the competition participants try to smuggle signs of solidarity with Palestine. The gesture was chosen, among others, by the representatives of Australia. The musician invited to the stage demonstrated his support for Palestine with a painting on his stomach. During the final, the Italian signaled to the audience.

The Italian flag has similar colors to those of Palestine. The only thing missing is the black color. During the presentation of the final participants, Angelina Mango came on stage with an Italian flag in a black dress, which complemented the missing color. This was not lost on Eurovision fans, who immediately noticed the detail and emphasized that the choice of outfit could not have been accidental.

Eurovision 2024. Netherlands disqualified

During the Eurovision 2024 final, 25 countries are fighting for victory. The Netherlands was disqualified from the competition just before the final. The EBU issued a statement regarding the singer who allegedly committed violence against one of the people working at the concert in Malmo.
