Last week, the Ministry of Culture eliminated the National Bullfighting Award and the money that the award gave. An act that has generated a lot of controversy, with regional presidents promoting new initiatives, and the laSexta barometer has provided a series of data on society’s thoughts.

Based on data provided by the Invimark Institute, the barometer shows that 46% of Spaniards consider themselves bullfightingcompared to 41% who define themselves as anti-bullfighting and 11% consider that it is neither one thing nor the other.

A division of opinions that is even more equal when evaluating the suppression of the National Bullfighting Prize 50% of those surveyed view the decision of the Ministry of Culture wellwhile 47% are against eliminating it.

Instead a majority of 52% does not want to eliminate bullfighting compared to 46% who did. A fact that is surprising when knowing that 52% of those surveyed have never witnessed a bullfight.

Of course, with subsidies the division is also total. 50% would eliminate them, but 48% would maintain them.
