The favorite week of the year for ‘Eurofans’ started last Tuesday when the Mälmo Arena in the Swedish city hosted the first semi-final of the festival Eurovision 2024. During these days the controversies surrounding Israel’s participation in the contest have been repeated in the form of massive demonstrations and even boycotts of the rehearsals of the Israeli representative at cry of ‘Free Palestine’ which the European Broadcasting Union tried to camouflage with canned applause.

Such has been the commotion that even the Jewish State sent a senior security official in the country to the Swedish city. But, beyond the security measures around Eden Golan and the entire event, in general, many have put the spotlight on one of the sponsors of Eurovision. Among these ‘sponsors’ there is also Easy Jet or Idealista, but it is Moroccanoil that has received all the attention.

Although the name of this company dedicated to cosmetics contains Morocco in its name, the origin of this company that bases its products on argan oil is Israel. In fact, its official name, ie. his name in the official registry, is Moroccanoil Israel, Ltd. Many point to this reason why Israel participates in this edition despite the continuous attacks that the country launches on the Gaza Strip.

However, it is worth clarifying that this company has other subsidiary companies located in other countries. In fact, the legal department of the business group is located in the Canadian city of Montreal. Even the co-founder of the brand, Carmen Tal, is a Chilean who lives in New York. In short, and despite the international profile of this group, Moroccanoil is an Israeli company that, as a sponsor of the festival for the third consecutive time, has been able to influence the country’s participation.
