The Board of Directors of the Union of Open Commercial Televisions (UTECA) has unanimously approved the incorporation of Mediaset as a full member. The Board of Directors positively values this decision, with which they claim to gain “muscle and representation at a key moment for the sector.”
“We claim the social and economic relevance of free-to-air television. Together we will continue to demand the need for homogeneous regulation with the large video sharing platforms and social networks,” says the association, chaired by Eduardo Olano.
UTECA was founded in 1998 by itself Mediaset and Atresmedia (then Gestevisión Telecinco and Antena 3 TV). The list of partners, who will manage a total of 21 free and open DTT channels, will be as follows: Atresmedia, DKISS, Mediaset, NET TV, Real Madrid TV, TEN, TRECE and VEO TV.
