Who more, who less, there is no Spaniard who does not remember the bright Chanel’s performance at Eurovision 2022. The Spanish-Cuban singer got half the Palasport Olimpico in Turin (Italy) to stand up and give her a standing ovation thanks to her ‘SloMo‘, a song that arrived at the festival with some controversy—when isn’t there any?—and that achieved a total of 459 points. Chanel wore Spain in third place in the rankingthe best position in almost three decades, after a total of eight countries dedicated their twelve points (12 points), plus many others.

In 2023, Chanel once again starred in another controversy, after the BBC confirmed the list of performances for the Eurovision final: the top of the previous year, the best of the best, but Chanel was not there. She herself came out to explain that it had not been her decision, but rather the organization’s. Today, two years after her success, Chanel brings her ‘SloMo’ to Eurovision againspecifically to the first semi-final of the festivalwhich takes place on Tuesday, May 7 in Malmö (Sweden).

Along with her, the Cypriot Eleni Foureira who led the 2018 Festival polls and also the televoting – she came second, behind the representative of Israel, Netta -, who returns with her song ‘Fuego’, and the Swede Eric Saade, who came third in the edition of 2011 thanks to his song ‘Popular’.

From the hand of Chanel, Eleni Foureira and Eric Saade Another 24 dancers will take the stage in a “spectacular show that will kick off this edition in style to the rhythm of three mythical songs from the history of the contest,” in the words of the Spanish festival organization. The three open the first semi of the festival under the motto United by Music (United by music), with which they try to send the message that not only the winners win at Eurovision.

“We want to start this year’s edition with a great pop number that shows the Sweden’s immense love for this competition and that shows how we are all united by music,” said the director and scriptwriter of the 2024 edition of the festival, Edward af Sillén, who referred to them as “three artists who may not take the gold but yes they won the hearts of the audience“This musical number will raise the bar all week and we hope audiences will love it.”

But in addition to them, the representative of Sweden in 2018 also performs in this first semi-final, Benjamin Ingrosso, which left his country seventh in that edition. This Tuesday, Ingrosso offers a medley with some of the songs he has performed during his Better Days tour through Europe.
