Translator Amaia Aplauza Ollo is the winner of the eighth call of the (H)ilbeltza scholarshipbased on the decision of a jury made up of the mayor of Baztan Fernando Anbustegi, the translator Beñat Irastorza and the editor Garazi Arrula.

Among the ten samples of translations received by the Basque Black Novel Week, it will be the one from Apalauza that will materialize thanks to the festival’s contribution of 6,000 euros. Apalauza will bring the documentary novel to Basque Guillem.

The young Valencian Guillem Agulló i Salvador was stabbed to death in a fascist attack in Castellón in 1993, and Cadenes has immersed himself in the documentation about the case to publish the book.

The (H)ilbeltza scholarship is dedicated each year alternately to translation and creation. The result of this call will be published by the Txalaparta publishing house in December 2025 and will be presented in the 2026 edition of (H)ilbeltza.
