After her father’s death, she was supposed to be cared for by her relatives, but they also abused her mentally and physically. Then, together with her sister Anna, who was seven years older, she came under the care of nuns in Jordanów, who were supposed to provide her with proper care. However, the reality turned out to be completely different. As soon as she crossed the threshold of the orphanage, she could not use her name, but the number eight she had been given, and to make matters worse, she was separated from her sister and was categorically forbidden to see her. – It was very traumatic. Any disobedience was punishable by severe punishment, and both physical and mental violence was commonplace. The nuns told children terrible ghost stories, beat them, twisted their ears, and forced elders to hit them.

However, the joy did not last long. Just a few weeks later, Kora found her dead father. It turned out that he died of a heart attack. This was only the beginning of another wave of difficult experiences. In the meantime, it turned out that her mother was struggling with a relapse of the disease and was no longer able to take care of the children. Then she went to relatives living in Jabłonów Pomorski, who also abused her mentally and physically.
