Jadwiga Barañska gained popularity, among others, thanks to his role in “Nights and Days”. If it weren’t for a certain anonymous person, she might not have become an actress.

She was born in 1935 and graduated from the State Theater School in Łódź in 1958. She didn’t get in the first time, but that didn’t mean she was going to sit idly by for a year. – I am a child of the occupation, I can wash the floor and work in a factory. I don’t know if there are many actresses in Poland who worked in a factory to survive, but I did, Jadwiga Barańska told “Super Express” in 2013.

Jadwiga Barańska met her future husband when she failed an exam

When she didn’t get into college, she went to work in a knitting factory. – These were Stalinist times, someone wrote an anonymous letter about me. “Child, please stop talking. Listen and apologize. And when you go to college, I will write you an opinion” – I had a wise chairman of the Works Council, Mr. Sobiś, who advised me this way before I stood in front of the red table. 25 years have passed, after the premiere of “Nights and Days”. I receive a letter: “I don’t know, do you remember me?” – writes Mr. Sobiś. I replied to him: “I not only remember you, I owe my life to you!” – recalled the actress.

Both Barbara Niechcic in the film “Nights and Days” and the title character in “Countess Cosel” and the composer’s mother in the production “Chopin. The Desire for Love” are Baranska’s roles in the films of her husband, Jerzy Antczak. They met during that failed exam! She was 17 years old and he was already a member of the commission. – I contributed to her failing the exam with my gibberish. She seemed ugly, thin and incapable to me. Fortunately, she passed with distinction next year, because who knows if we would have met again – he recalled years later in an interview with “Życie na Gorąco” via other media.

She wasn’t the only one who failed the first time. The list includes: Janusz Gajos and Cezary Pazura

Many excellent artists did not start acting school right after high school due to failed entrance exams. Cezary Pazura also did not get into college the first time. – I lacked points for my origins, it was the fault of the communist system that prevailed at that time. The point is that people from working-class and peasant families had an additional nine points. Even though I came from a small town, I didn’t have these points because my dad was a teacher. If I had them, I’d be second on the list. And so I was second under the line. And I didn’t get in – in 2021 in an interview with “Fakt”.

Winner of, among others, six Eagles, including one for lifetime achievements, Janusz Gajos passed to film school only for the fourth time. First, he tried to get the index at theater schools in Krakow and Łódź, and managed to get into the acting department of the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theater. Leon Schiller in Łódź. Then he played many fantastic roles that earned him many awards, including the Diamond Lions for the actor of the 40th anniversary at the Gdynia film festival.

Although he did not graduate immediately, he was considered one of the best students. He studied at the Łódź Film School in 1961-1965, and received his diploma in 1971. He was already there, among others. after the spectacular success of the series “Czterej pancerni i pies”. In 2008, Gajos received the title of professor of theater arts, and eight years later he was awarded an honorary doctorate from his alma mater.

And this is not a record at all! Perhaps this one belongs to, for example, Maciej Wilewski, whom viewers of “Plebania” know from the role of Wasp. The first time, as he recalled in one of the interviews, he was thrown out of the room after just 10 minutes. He tried six times in total. – And so, after six years, Jan Machulski took pity on me and accepted me to school in Łódź – he told “Super Express”.

Among those who did not give up their dreams of university and are currently working in their profession, there are also: , in particular the characters of Przemek from “Colors of Happiness” and Paweł from “Rancz” and Filip P³awiak. Today, the sought-after actor (“Rojst”, “White Courage”) goes to acting school in Krakow and Wrocław. Only the film school in Łódź succeeded.
