Marek and Danuta met at a festival in Krakow, but they were both in other relationships at the time. Their paths crossed again by complete accident. Grechuta broke up with his girlfriend, and he met Danuta on the street. – I smiled at him and at that moment something sparked – after all these years. The couple got married in 1970, and the fruit of the union was a son, Łukasz. The boy grew up in an artistic household. He learned to play the guitar and took up painting, but in 1999 he suddenly disappeared.
What happened to Marek Grechuta’s son? Parents appealed in the media: “Łukasz, come back home!”
He announced to his parents that he was going on a trip, but when several weeks, and then months, passed, Marek and Danuta began to get nervous because their son showed no sign of life. Grechuta hired a private detective and notified the services, but Łukasz seemed to sink into the ground. They decided to appeal to him in the media. – Łukasz, come back home! My mother and I promise that we will not interfere in your affairs. (…) Our house is your home – said the artist. They also appeared in the popular program “Whoever Seen, Anyone Knows”.
After two years, Łukasz returned home. He revealed the truth about what he was doing only a few days after his father’s death. It turned out that he had traveled around the world. – I was walking. (…) I contemplated the world of spiritual life and God has always been very important to me. My journey lasted two years. I finished it in Rome. I was at the mass celebrated by the Pope, he said.
