When you buy horseradish root, you better plant it right away. You can store it in the refrigerator or in a cold room, but only for two days. The best time for planting is just after the soil has thawed, when its temperature is approximately 8 degrees C. You can also plant horseradish in autumn. It will start growing as soon as it gets warmer. First, separate the side roots from the main one so that the plant does not sprout unnecessary shoots.

Then dig a hole and fill it with compost. Plant the root at an angle of 30 or 45 degrees so that its upper part is about 3 cm below the ground. Cover the plant with soil, press it down and water it thoroughly. Remember that horseradish should be planted in rows. Seedlings should be 30 cm apart.

How to fertilize horseradish? Prepare a homemade mixture of two ingredients

Horseradish does not like full sun. It should be grown in a semi-shady position. It prefers fertile, humus-rich and moderately moist soil. It is worth planting it with potatoes, because it will reduce their incidence of diseases. During the plant’s growth period, feed it twice with nitrogen fertilizer. Homemade conditioner will also work very well. Dissolve a tablespoon of gelatin in 250 ml of warm water. Then mix everything with 750 ml of water and add horseradish. It will grow healthily and abundantly. Don’t forget to regularly weed the area where it grows. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
