he debuted on the stage in the early 1970s, and is currently considered one of the most outstanding guitarists in the Polish music industry. Initially, he performed with , and in 1981, together with Andrzej Mogielnicki, he founded the band Lady Pank, of which he became the leader. Just 2 years later, the musicians released their first studio album, which instantly won the hearts of listeners. The popularity of the “Polish Rolling Stones” was evidenced not only by timeless songs, but also by numerous scandals that did not escape the attention of the colorful press.
Borysewicz came on stage and showed his penis. The audience included mainly children and teenagers
Already at the beginning of their career, the band members eagerly participated in lavish parties, becoming heroes of demolitions in hotels and brawls with the police. – When you are twenty-something, you play hundreds of concerts, you have money and you think you can do anything, and you see a thousand girls outside the hotel, let’s just say you don’t really know what is happening to you – Janusz Panasewicz years later. It cannot be denied that each musician has something behind his ears, but most often the ringleader of all the crimes was Borysewicz.
Suffice it to mention the so-called an incident in Wrocław, when he entered the stage during a Children’s Day concert in 1986 in a state of alcohol intoxication. The outraged audience started whistling, and without thinking too much, he decided to show his penis. – There is no point in whitewashing it, it was like that – in “Gazeta Wyborcza”. His bandmates quickly reacted by forcefully dragging him backstage, but he refused to calm down. The police were called to the scene and took him to a psychiatric facility for examination. He was then brought to justice, and although he was sentenced to 3 months in prison, he ultimately escaped punishment as a result of the amnesty.
Another Borysewicz incident could have ruined Lady Pank’s career. The guitarist decided to overcome his addiction
After this event, Borysewicz repented in the media, ensuring improvement. However, we didn’t have to wait long for his next antics. At the concerts played shortly thereafter, he shocked with his controversial statements and irrational behavior, and was often under the influence of alcohol. From this period, there was a lot of media coverage, among others: an event organized in 2004 on the occasion of Poland’s accession to the European Union.
Lady Pank was then supposed to play a concert for guests invited to Sulęcin, where the ceremony took place. However, before this happened, Borysewicz entered the stage drunk, shouting obscene words at the delegates from Germany, the Netherlands and France. “You there, in those suits,” he said to the audience. – Get the f*** off these benches! We don’t play for retirees, he shouted. The band’s manager then explained that it was “rock nature” and the guitarist didn’t mean anything bad, but few believed it. Many believed that Lady Pank would hit rock bottom if Borysewicz’s behavior did not improve. There were even claims that his alcohol addiction was to blame, but he didn’t even want to hear about it, claiming that “there is no gaming without drinking.”
He changed his mind only in 2013, when he began to struggle with health problems. – It’s high time to take care of your health if you want to continue your creative activity – he said in one of the interviews. – When I was partying quite often, my body was really exhausted, I had cramps in my hands during the concert and I couldn’t play. It was the alcohol’s fault – he admitted honestly. More than a decade has passed since then, and the 69-year-old guitarist does not hide the fact that he has not been in such good shape for years.
