“Millionaires” is almost 25 years old. How has the program changed since its premiere?
Despite the passage of time, the program still enjoys unflagging popularity among viewers. During the broadcast hours, people sit in large numbers in front of their TV sets to follow the participants’ struggles and their fight for the main prize. It is also one of the few formats that has undergone only minor, one might even say cosmetic, changes, and it has looked and functioned the same way almost from the very beginning.
Suffice it to mention the regulations that were established for the premiere series and are still in force today. Each player receives a pool of questions from various fields of science, and answering them correctly increases their winning amount. However, if he has doubts or does not understand the puzzle, he can use the lifeline. He has as many as three options at his disposal: a phone call to a friend, a question to the audience or the 50/50 option, which eliminates two incorrect variants.
