We most often associate hot springs with Iceland, Turkey or Japan. Unfortunately, you won’t find them in Poland, unless we mean thermal pools. However, this does not mean that we have to plan a long vacation to visit them. It turns out that we can find them among our neighbors, more precisely in Slovakia.
Where to go to the thermal baths in Poland? You will find most of them in Podhale
The Podhale region is a frequent destination for numerous trips and excursions for many nature and history lovers. Here you will find not only beautiful trails through the majestic Tatra Mountains, numerous museums, but also interestingly developed thermal pools that attract crowds of tourists every year. After all, there is probably nothing better than after a long day of hiking, immerse yourself in warm water and relax. Unfortunately, despite many advantages, such places also have their disadvantages. Since there are relatively few of them, we have to take crowds into account even in the low season. Especially when the weather outside is not pleasant. In addition, just entering the swimming pool costs a lot. However, this does not mean that we have to give up similar attractions. Just get in your car and visit Slovakia. 1.5 hours from Zakopane and about 3 hours from Krakow, you will find an extraordinary place there.
Where to go to hot springs? Go 50 km from the border
Just over 50 kilometers from Chyżne, you can immerse yourself in hot water almost completely free of charge. The only fee you have to pay is for parking (a few euros). What’s more, water relaxation will take place surrounded by nature, not walls and crowds of tourists. In the small town of Kalameny in Slovakia, there is a natural, though slightly renovated and developed hot spring that delights with its surroundings.
Natural hot spring in Slovakia. This is a perfect idea for relaxing after a hike
The hot spring in Kalameny is available all year round and its use is free of charge. There is a parking lot right next to it, where you can park your car without any worries and for a small fee. Many people who come here decide to stay overnight and camp, which does not involve any additional fee. The swimming pool itself is about 20 meters long, and the water is slightly mineralized, which not only promotes blissful relaxation, but also has health benefits. Both in summer and winter, it is around 33 degrees Celsius, so there is no shortage of people willing to participate all year round. Although it can be crowded on non-working days (but not always), during the week you can count on peace and quiet. There is probably nothing better than a hot bath in the bosom of nature. Especially since there are many interesting trails in the immediate vicinity, perfect for hiking, which can then be followed by relaxation in a hot spring.
