They are extremely easy to grow and have unique, fluted flowers. No wonder they are so popular and everyone wants to have them in the garden. To enjoy beautiful flowers all summer long, you must meet a certain condition. When to sow marigolds?

Tagetes came to Poland from America. They are also called turkies and stinkers. Their leaves do not have a very pleasant smell, but the flowers look very impressive. They are yellow or orange in color and have crimped petals. The plant can often be found in gardens or in pots on balconies and terraces. In order for them to bloom beautifully, you need to remember a few things.

How to care for marigolds? Homemade fertilizer will stimulate them to grow

People plant marigolds for two reasons: because they are pretty and because their scent repels pests such as moles and voles. The plant is liked by pollinating insects, mainly bees. It blooms from June until frost. It has no special requirements and is easy to grow. It feels best in sunny positions and fertile, permeable soil.

It needs to be watered regularly, but it also tolerates periods of drought well. Uglier, fading flowers should be removed on an ongoing basis to stimulate the marigold to grow. In the middle of the season, you can support it with flowering fertilizer. Homemade banana peel fertilizer will also work very well. Once every 3 weeks, just dry them, grind them and mix them with the soil.

When to sow marigolds? The best date is coming soon

Marigold can be propagated in two ways: directly into the ground or by preparing seedlings at home. Seeds can be sown in containers from mid-March to May. Use ready-made substrate for sowing seeds or prepare the mixture yourself. To do this, mix garden soil, peat and sand in equal proportions. You will see the first sprouts after five days. When you already have a ready seedling, plant it in the ground in the second half of May. Then there is no longer any risk of frost. If you feel like it, vote in our poll below.
