Experts have been warning for several months that prices in the French capital will soar. At the end of 2023, there were reports that hotel prices could increase by up to 314 percent. This has nothing to do with inflation, but with the Summer Olympic Games taking place in Paris.

The Olympic Games in Paris will start on July 26 and last until August 11, 2024. The Paralympic Games will start on August 28, and the closing ceremony will take place on September 8. Preparations will start earlier, so it means two difficult months not only for residents, but also for those who planned to spend their holidays on the Seine.

In November 2023, the Paris tourism office pointed out that prices may increase even several times. Ultimately, as he reported in April, the level of hotel reservations during the Olympics is far from forecast. Prices are also lower than expected. However, they are still very high. A day in Paris costs on average 452 euros. This is twice as much as in July 2023.

However, hotels are not the only thing that will become more expensive during the holidays in Paris. While accommodations may drop depending on room bookings during the Games, the prices of attractions may increase even more over time.

During the Olympic period, from July to September, metro prices in Paris are expected to increase by up to 80%. A single ticket, according to “”, costs 4 euros (a little over PLN 17; today it costs 2.15 euros). A package for 10 trips will cost EUR 32 (PLN 137; today it is EUR 17.35). Not only transport will become more expensive, but also popular attractions. During the holidays, the entrance fee to the Eiffel Tower goes from 29 to 35 euros. Admission to the Louvre will cost 22 euros (today it’s 17 euros). During the holidays, it is better to stay away from Paris and go somewhere else.
