The role of the neurotic Professor in the hit Netflix series “House of Cards” brought Alvaro Morte international fame. However, before he became the audience’s favorite, he had to go a long and bumpy road. There were also many difficult moments in his private life, and one of them was undoubtedly the diagnosis of a malignant tumor.

Álvaro Morte is undoubtedly one of the most popular Spanish speakers in the world today, but few people know that he got involved with this profession somewhat by accident. He was a communications engineering student when he spontaneously went to the theater to see a show. He was not impressed by this one, as he thought it lacked the involvement of the actors. Then he came up with the idea to try his hand at the stage and prove that he can intrigue the audience. Without thinking much, he gave up his current course and in 1999 he enrolled in the theater school in Cordoba, which turned out to be a bull’s-eye.

Netflix’s “House of Cards” opened the door to his career. What roles has Álvaro Morte played?

He made his debut in 2001 in the Spanish series “Hospital Central” and although he only played an episode, he was almost immediately bombarded with various offers. In the following years, he worked persistently for his success, appearing on both the small and big screens. In the meantime, in cooperation with his wife, he also founded the theater group “300 Pistolas” and began to fulfill himself as a director.

However, he gained real popularity only in 2017 thanks to the hit Netflix series, in which he played the role of a cunning Professor. The furore he created made Hollywood come after him, but he initially didn’t want to work abroad. Eventually, however, he gave in and today he has many American titles to his credit, such as “The Wheel of Time” or “Niepokalana”, which will be released in cinemas throughout Poland on April 26, 2024.

Few know that before Morte became an international star, he struggled with a serious illness. In 2011, doctors detected a lesion in his left thigh, and the diagnosis turned out to be shocking… – As soon as I learned the diagnosis, I was sure I was going to lose my leg. That I don’t have much life left and I will definitely die, in 2-3 months at the latest. Then I reevaluated everything in my head – in the pages of “The Observe”. He immediately underwent surgery to remove the tumor, which was successful. In the most difficult moments, he was supported by his beloved wife Blanca Clemente and children, twins Julieta and Leon.

The actor does not hide that family is his priority and the role of father is the most important in his life. He tries to be a role model for his children, exactly the same as he was when he was a child. – My dad passed away when he was 80. He was an always busy entrepreneur who spent every free moment with me and my two older brothers, he recalled in an interview for datatrained.com. – We were very impressed. He was able to find a solution in every goal-scoring situation and gave me a lot of valuable advice. Although he was practical, he was happy when I told him that I wanted to become an actor, he said.

Although he devotes every free moment to his loved ones, he also has time for his own passions. He is interested in motoring, willingly repairs watches, watches matches and plays golf. – I have always been interested in watches. I collect them, I repair them.
