With his first sentence in Opole in 1977, he caused a wave of laughter among the audience. A moment earlier, an Opole jingle was played, to which the actor objected sharply: “Enough of this violin blandness!”, he left the stage and turned to the orchestra, which had shortly before received the sheet music for the song he was supposed to sing.
Opole 1977. How was “Everybody Can Sing” created?
The hit, which later entered the everyday language of all Poles, was created, as often happens, by accident. what he could sing from the stage. From word to word, in the hotel room, a text invented by Jonasz Kofta bloomed on a handkerchief. It would have ended in declamation, if not for Stanisław Syrewicz, who saved Stuhr with a simple and catchy soundtrack.
This came about accidentally the night before the show. At the Opole hotel at night, at 00:30, with the lineup of Jonasz Kofta, Stanisław Syrewicz, Friedman, Młynarski on the occasion of the festival. Jonah immediately wrote on a napkin “Everyone can sing” and it took some time. And Mr. Syrewicz says: “Oh, I once had a song like that in a cabaret.” And within half an hour we were all over Opole. And when I sang it, all the journalists immediately said: enter the competition! Grand Prix! – Stuhr recalled in an interview with Radio Opole.
The reaction of the audience in Opole spoke for itself – the laughing audience listened, spellbound, as Stuhr said that “there is no pipe in the world that cannot be unblocked” and that he “simply has talent.” In fact, today we can safely say that it was Stuhr’s song, completely outside the regulations and outside the competition, that went down in history – unlike some of the songs performed that year.
