“Polish Feasts” will not return to TVP. It was already suggested by Marek Czy¿

The new TVP authorities do not intend to continue many of the flagship projects of their predecessors. One of such items is the “Polish Feasts” series, which is not expected to return to the airwaves next summer. Some time ago, Marek Czy¿ said in an interview for Gazeta.pl that everyone has the right to watch what they want, but you cannot force people to consider “feasts” as a topos of good taste.

As reported by the portal, the new management of TVP is not interested in continuing the format that was supposed to change the face of television musical shows in Poland. This is about the series of concerts “Polish Feasts” introduced by former president Mateusz Matyszkowicz, which was intended to unite all Poles – regardless of age, education or origin.

The new management of TVP does not want to promote feasts. Marek Czyż talked about “fairly universally understood good taste”

The former president of TVP often did not hide his admiration for this program. “There is no format in Poland in which people really sing together,” he said, adding that “Polish Feasts” is an original idea inspired by a German public television program entitled “Lustige Musikanten”. Moreover, TVP even started to create a television format based on the program that could be sold to other broadcasters.

However, the homely show does not fit the aesthetics that the new TVP authorities want to propose. Party music and disco polo are no longer to be an important element of musical shows on public television, as they were in the times of the so-called good change. : :

I’m not taking away from consumers the feasts of their stars, they have their stars. However, there is such a thing as generally understood good taste. And no one takes away anyone else’s right to watch something they like very much. But we cannot force other people to accept that from now on this is the topos of good taste. And I had the impression that this was the case for some time.

“Polish Feasts” was broadcast on TVP2 from June to August 2023 on Saturday at 8:05 p.m. The project was continued in September and October, although Matyszkowicz initially announced that the program would be implemented until mid-November.

It was supposed to be a family format, but it aroused a lot of controversy. Especially during the election campaign

Each feast was recorded in advance and had a different theme – it was Silesian, on the trail, Warsaw, wedding, highlander or family. The songs were performed by, among others: Łukasz Zagrobelny, Janusz Radek, Michał Milowicz, Olga Szomańska, Robert Rozmus, Sylwia Przetak, Antek Smykiewicz, Janek Traczyk, Natalia Srokocz and .

Concerts held before the parliamentary elections also aroused much controversy. In these episodes, PiS candidates were particularly exposed, which did not escape the attention of TV viewers. One of such people was MP and candidate for the Sejm Grzegorz Matusiak, who danced in front of the camera in a miner’s uniform.

The series was directed by Beata Szymańska-Masny, and the concerts were hosted by five presenter duos. Among them were, among others: Sławomir and Kajra, Rafał Brzozowski and Anna Popek. The latter has recently become a star of TV Republika, where she initially hosted a series about preparations for Easter, and is currently one of the hosts of the “#Wstamy!” program broadcast at dawn.
