The tooth bonding procedure has been extremely popular for several years. According to specialist portals, bonding is a non-invasive method of tooth reconstruction and any correction of aesthetic imperfections or dental damage. Many people choose it to ensure a beautiful, white smile. Bonding can be made in a wide range of shades of white, adapted to the original color of our teeth.

However, we know that we associate a beautiful smile primarily with white, so it is not surprising that patients usually choose the lightest colors. However, this does not always have the desired effect. Recently, a specialist from Opole, dentist Marcin Nowosielski, spoke about bonding. The specialist assessed the photo of the patient’s teeth after the bonding method was used. The doctor had no doubts about the effect achieved. – Toilet-colored ticks. You could say so, he said. In the photo attached to the short video, we can see that the new tooth color differs significantly from the original one. In addition, the shape of the teeth is also exaggerated – which may give the illusion of the aforementioned white candies or ticks.

Personally, if I were a patient, I would not decide to do such work. And I’m referring here more to the issue of function and durability of this type of solutions. The behavior of this type of work in patients over time is not entirely predictable

– There are patients for whom these direct composite veneers still look satisfactory after a long period of use – by which I mean one, two, three years of the function of such work. And there are patients who develop discolorations and color changes even after a year, he explained.

Bonding and composite veneers

He also added that “it is not the case that the color will change evenly on all teeth.” In some places this change will be more noticeable, and in other places much less. – And it’s going to start to look ugly – he concluded.

Bonding is performed using the so-called composite. It is a dental material that dentists use, among others: when installing fillings. Composite veneers, in turn, are tooth overlays that are attached to the facial part of the teeth using an appropriate method. This solution is sometimes used instead of classic whitening.
