Have you received information about your entry into the debt register? It’s a scam!

In recent years, all types of Internet and SMS messages sent and addressed directly to recipients have become more powerful. Messages that are intended to encourage us to click on suspicious links or download attachments often contain personal data, which is why many people are fooled. That’s why it’s so important to verify them thoroughly and do not click on anything without first making sure that it is not a fraud attempt. Especially since few companies allow for such an uncertain form of contact. Unfortunately, fraudsters are becoming more and more cunning and are more likely to use hair-raising methods. This time, they focused on threatening to enter the recipient into the register of debtors, which certainly caused quite a stir in many people.

How do phone scammers work? You can lose almost PLN 1,300

This time, Poles were sent “monitor” text messages informing about the risk of being entered into the debtor register. Importantly, each message contained the correct name and surname of the recipient, which made them look very credible. Of course, the content could not fail to encourage people to click on a link that supposedly contained a report on this entry. After visiting the website, there will be a form in which you must provide your e-mail address, PESEL number and address. Otherwise, it will be impossible to download the report. If you do this, you must take into account a fee of PLN 1,299 and 99 groszy, which you have 24 hours to pay. After this time, a payment request is sent. Fortunately, clicking on the link itself does not involve any consequences, but we do not recommend trying to get rid of the habit of visiting websites of unknown origin.

What should you do if you downloaded the report and received the bill? The specialist advises

Did you receive the message, clicked on the link, completed the form and sent it, and now you have received a payment request? Lawyer Dr. Paweł Litwiński admits that this entire action is nothing more than… a trick that misleads the audience. – And if so, the victim of the fraud can avoid the consequences of his statements caused by the fraud, you need to write a letter and send it to the person who demands payment from us – he said, quoted by Niebezpiecznik.pl. The specialist also noted that, in his opinion, the perpetrator counts on voluntary consent and will not enforce it. However, it is worth protecting yourself in advance.
