Take the vinegar and mix with the shells. You will solve a common problem once and for all

Lush and densely growing vegetables are the dream of everyone who decides to start a garden. Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that life verifies our plans and assumptions. Sometimes, despite the best intentions, tomatoes do not grow very well, and cucumbers do, but there are few of them. It turns out that one thing that we would normally throw into the trash can help here.

Bowls or buckets full of cucumbers and other vegetables are a sight that pleases every gardener. We work hard throughout the season to ensure that our gardens not only look beautiful, but also produce a lot of fruit. Regular maintenance, watering, pruning and fertilizing can take up a lot of time and sometimes a lot of money. After all, water, fertilizers and spraying cost money. However, it turns out that we can save a lot on one thing.

No expensive drugs! A common problem for gardeners can be solved with waste

Even the most cared for and cared for garden is not 100% immune to all the threats around it. Gardeners largely complain about pests that destroy crops. Snails can be a huge problem. We wrote about how to deal with them in a separate article:

Another concern for gardeners are diseases that can affect plants. For this purpose, they use various sprays and fertilizers. It’s the same with plants and with our bodies. If they are well nourished, it is easier for them to fight pathogenic microorganisms. Therefore, it is worth thinking about not only isolating the garden from dangers as best as possible, but also strengthening our vegetables and fruits from the inside.

It turns out that one thing that often ends up in the trash can works perfectly for this purpose. It’s worth thinking about it before we post it. Especially when we take into account the fact that the drugs available in stores can cost a lot of money. Eggs are used in almost every Polish home. Most often, we throw away the shells. This is a huge mistake, because they contain a lot of nutrients, including: calcium, iron, sulfur and fluorine, which perfectly support plant growth. How to prepare eggshell fertilizer? Nothing easier! We need about ten eggshells, crush them and place them in a container, then pour half a liter of 9% vinegar. Set the mixture aside for two days. After this time, we can strain it and pour it into a bottle.

How to use eggshell fertilizer? Pour a tablespoon of the mixture into a liter of water and pour the liquid over the soil under cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, beets and other vegetables. It is worth repeating fertilization every two weeks. We will significantly improve the condition of plants and ensure that vegetables produce abundant and lush crops.

For some plants it’s salvation, for others it’s a disaster

Fertilizer made from eggshells and vinegar will work not only for vegetables, but also for other plants that tolerate alkaline soil. It is worth using it to support, among others: lavender, lilac, elderberry, mountain pine, yew, boxwood, pine, ash and fruit trees, e.g. apple or plum. Attention! Eggshell and vinegar fertilizer should not be used for plants that prefer acidic soil. These include, among others: heather, hydrangea, magnolias and quinces.
