Coachella, held in California, is one of the largest and most famous music festivals in the United States. The most popular pop stars perform during the event, and they also take part as ordinary participants. The stars of this year’s edition include: Doja Cat, Tyler, the Creator and Lana Del Rey, but it was the performance of a certain Grimes that received wide media coverage around the world.
Halfway through the show, things started to go wrong. The artist started screaming and tried to fix everything
The 36-year-old artist usually performs indie pop music, but in our country she is much better known as the mother of Elon Musk’s three children, from whom she broke up in 2022. During the concert, which took place on the second day of the festival, she was forced to shorten her performance due to a “serious technical error”.
Problems arose about halfway through the concert, when the background music started playing at twice the speed. Grimes tried to keep her cool, but as she repeatedly tried to start singing “Music 4 Machines” again, the frustration was evident on her face and soon intensified.
Don’t judge me for being bad at calculating things, she shouted to the audience.
After repeated failed attempts, the artist began shouting into the microphone, trying to mentally perform calculations to keep up with the accelerated song. – I’m trying to think. “I’m not good enough at math for this shit,” she said. At one point she apologized for the situation, saying it wasn’t her fault, and then ended the performance prematurely.
The show is interrupted, but Grimes apologizes and promises to do better. “Everything will pass through my hands”
The singer reflected the next day and posted an entry on the X website in which she apologized for the performance and her reaction, and promised to improve on the second weekend of the festival. “I want to apologize for the technical problems during today’s performance. I wanted to come back very strong and I usually always handle every aspect of my performance myself – to save time, this was one of the first cases in which I commissioned someone else to do the things necessary for the performance,” we read.
The singer also highlighted three things she learned from the ill-fated performance. He lists: “If you want something done right, do it yourself,” “be a dick even if people feel bad,” and “probably pretend like everything’s fine and engage the audience instead of spending the entire show trying to fix software when you’re just trying to be entertained.”
I will personally organize all the files next week. I won’t let something like this happen again. I spent months on this show, creating music and visuals, and I must admit that I’m not in the best mood right now, but yes – next week will be flawless, everything will be in my hands – concluded Grimes.
