“What’s the melody?” is currently one of the longest-running programs on Polish television. The game show, modeled on the American “Name That Tune”, debuted on TVP1 in 1997 and had its 27th edition. Robert Janowski was the host for over twenty years, but in 2018 he decided to leave the program, whose formula was to be refreshed.

However, this did not happen, and only the presenters changed. For a year, Norbi played the role of the game show host, but then he switched places with Rafał Brzozowski, who was the host of “Wheel of Fortune” at that time. The changes in presenters did not make the program lose its popularity. However, this year there was a drastic decline.
According to reports, the game show has a quarter of a million fewer viewers than last year. In the first quarter of 2023, “What tune is that?” 1.22 million people watched it, and in the same period this year it was an average of 946 thousand. viewers, which translated into 9.34 percent. market share. So the game show lost a total of 274,000. viewers.

Rafał Brzozowski is a TVP star, brought to the station and promoted by Jacek Kurski. Since 2017, he has been the host of such programs as: Wheel of Fortune (2017–2019), What a Tune? (2019-2024) and “The Voice Senior” (from 2020) as well as concerts and musical shows organized by TVP. Moreover, in 2021 he represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest.
However, his further career at TVP is in doubt. After the process of depoliticizing public media began, the station’s management thanked many of the current hosts of entertainment programs. Recently, the game show “Va Banque” gained a new host, Radek Kotarski. It is possible that due to the decline in viewership in “Name That Tune?” we will soon see a different host there as well.
