TV Republika has specially changed its schedule. The film is allowed from the age of 16

The information TV Republika turned into a film platform on Sunday evening. The station’s schedule was changed especially for the purpose of organizing a debate on abortion. Some viewers were able to watch “The Judgment of the Innocents”.

Like other news television stations, it adapts its schedule to political events in Poland and around the world. Last weekend, not only was the conflict between Israel and Iran covered live, but it was also decided to change the Sunday evening schedule to present one of the sides of the abortion dispute in Poland.

TV Republika has changed its schedule. Film from 16+

TV Republika has been reporting on the broadcast of “Judgement on the Innocents” for several days. On Sunday evening at 8 p.m., some viewers could watch a film about the US Supreme Court’s ruling in the Roe vs. Wade case. The film with Jon Voight is a one-sided anti-abortion narrative. It was created when the US Supreme Court took up the issue of reproductive rights in the United States again, and became an element of the discussion that ultimately led to the repeal of the Roe v. Wade judgment in 2022.

In Poland, once again, a discussion similar to the American one is taking place – with the difference that there are no plans to further tighten the anti-abortion law. However, TV Republika stood on one side of the barricade and on Sunday evening it broadcast the film “Judgement on the Innocents”. Not all viewers could watch it – the broadcast was limited to television broadcast only, cutting off online viewers from this benefit.

Although “Sentence for the Innocent” was classified as “admissible from the age of 13” in the United States, in Poland the age limit was raised to 16. The production faced major problems from the very beginning – investors withdrew, it was accused of being lax in its approach to facts and bending the narrative to suit its needs. After the premiere, there were many opinions that it was “pure propaganda” (Variety), “a conspiracy theory” (The New York Times), “not a film, but a propaganda product” (Awards Radar). At the same time, the audience’s reception depended very much on who watched the film. If the presented narrative resonated with the viewer’s views, “Sentence for the Innocents” received very high marks. If the viewer stood on the opposite side of the barricade, he considered “Wyrok” not worth any attention.

“Sentence for the Innocents” was shown a few hours after the end of the “National March of Life” in Warsaw, which was broadcast live by TV Republika. After the film, a discussion was proposed on the abortion law in force in Poland. Women representing various political options were invited to the debate led by Katarzyna Gójska-Hejke: prof. Joanna Senyszyn (Democratic Left), Agnieszka Wojciechowska van Heukelom (PiS), Natalia Broniarczyk (Abortive Dream Team) and Marta Czech (Confederation).
