The creator of “Mr. Samochodzik” lived under one roof with his wife and lover. Now the house is for sale

A house in a small town in Masuria was a real refuge for Zbigniew Nienacki. It was there that he created his most widely read novels and spent time with his wife and… lover. 30 years after the writer’s death, the building is for sale again. Few people know, however, that it has a sad history connected with it, which the neighbors still remember with regret.

Zbigniew Nienacki gained nationwide recognition with a series of adventure novels for young people, which were adapted into several equally hit films. His output also included books exclusively for adults, and the inspiration for their creation was his colorful private life, full of love turmoil and hot romance.

In a house in Masuria, Nienacki lived with his lover, who was 23 years his junior. His wife tolerated their affair

In 1952, he married Helena Dębska, with whom he had his only son, Marek, but he was not particularly good at finding his place as a father and husband. He struggled to be faithful, which his wife quickly accepted. She explained that they were a “modern married couple” and that betrayals had no effect on her. In the early 1960s, Nienacki left home, and in 1967 he bought a property in Jerzwałd in Masuria, where he created his refuge. There, he created new characters and wrote new novels, and during breaks he spent passionate moments not only with his wife, but also with his lovers.

One of them was Alicja Janeczek, who was not even an adult when she met her. She came from a poor home with an alcohol problem, and the writer, who was 23 years her senior, quickly took care of her. Although he was still married, which the neighbors knew perfectly well, they moved in together and lived together like any couple. Only when Helena appeared on the horizon did her lover give way to her. This arrangement seemed to be completely natural for both parties and lasted for years. – The writer couldn’t live in celibacy, he had to have various adventures with women in order to create – claimed Janeczek in an interview for “Przegląd”.

Nienacki’s widow threw his lover out on the street. The property is looking for a new owner

Janeczek stayed by Nienacki’s side until his death on September 23, 1994, i.e. for two decades. However, she did not attend the funeral for fear of the widow’s reaction. However, the mourning did not last long, because property matters were dealt with just a few days later. According to the will left by the writer on a piece of paper torn from his notebook, she was to take over the care of his artistic legacy and create a museum. Dębska declared that she would fulfill her husband’s will, but in fact she had completely different intentions.

Janeczek was not even aware that the widow had started a court fight for the inheritance, which ended in her favor. She sold the house almost immediately, throwing her lover out on the street. – She sat curled up, cold, in only her pajamas, with bundles scattered around her. She didn’t even have time to take her things because Marek, the writer’s son, made a furious row with her and threw her out the gate. Then her overalls, scarves and hats were lying around in the mud in the roadside ditches – a village resident told “Przegląd”.

Despite this, Janeczek made sure that her beloved’s will was fulfilled and constantly appeared at the estate. She tended the garden and took care of his grave, regularly visiting the cemetery. She led a poor life, living on a small pension. – The writer is an antichrist for not writing anything down. She did everything for him at home. She ran like an ox. When he got sick, she flew around him. It’s a miracle that now she hasn’t gone crazy from all this – said the village head in “Super Express”. However, the writer’s widow had no remorse. – And I don’t feel sorry for her. She knew this guy wasn’t for her. Why did she stay with her grandfather for so many years? – she said.

At the beginning of 2023, the media circulated about the author of “Mr. Samochodzik”. A house with an area of 130 square meters, located on a plot of 2.33 hectares right next to the shore of Lake Płaskie, was valued at PLN 2.95 million. It also includes farm buildings, including a stable, a barn and a summer house. For now, it is not known whether Bogusław Ćwirko, who owned the estate in recent years, has found its new owner.
