Although Jacek Łągwa is not planning to retire for now, the issue of pension contributions and the amount of the benefit he is entitled to after reaching the age of 65 are not alien to him. The singer, like many Polish artists, found himself, to put it mildly, in a desperate situation. The industry has its own rules, and actors and singers are usually employed under contracts for specific work, for which no pension contributions are paid.
What kind of pension can Jacek Łęgwa count on?
The situation is slightly different in the case of celebrities running their own businesses. Here, the decision on the amount of contributions is made by entrepreneurs, although, as Jacek Łągwa noted, this is not a very common practice: “I have yet to meet a person who would increase his taxes and ZUS on his own,” he commented in an interview with “Fakt”.
Considering his future, the singer of Ich Troje had already secured himself financially many years earlier: “When communism collapsed and regulations regarding entrepreneurs were crazy, unstable and changing all the time, ZUS made a promotion that you can pay contributions 10 years back. It was some 10 percent of the real value of contributions. I took advantage of it and signed a contract with them… ” – he revealed to “Fakt”. He also added that thanks to his thrift, when he turns 65, he will be able to count on a pension of approximately PLN 3,000 a month. “I don’t expect coconuts,” he concluded.
Jacek Łęgwa has been a member of Ich Troje since the beginning of the group, i.e. since 1995. He founded the band together with Michał Wi¶niewski, with whom he had previously opened the first karaoke club in Poland.
