Superhero movies have been filling the cinema repertoire for years. For someone who is not up to date, it is increasingly difficult to find their way around the offers based on Marvel or DC Comics. In Poland, the possibilities of creating similar productions are limited, but director Maciej Barczewski wants to prove that the genre has a chance to develop in our backyard as well.

Will the creators succeed? We will find out on May 10, when the film “Supersisters”, full of special effects, hits cinemas. Katarzyna Gałązka and Karolina Bruchnicka, who play the title sisters, will tell you that having powers is one thing, the trick is to control them. We will also see Tymek Frączek, Grzegorz Damięcki, Mateusz Kościukiewicz and Marek Kalita on the screen. The creators announce the production as the first Polish film about superheroes.
With this film, I reached out to myself as a 12-year-old who passionately watched American adventure films produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin studio, and in the early 1990s read the first comic books from the X-Men series published in Poland – says the director of the film, Maciej Barczewski, about his inspirations. .
As the title of the film itself indicates, “Supersisters” is also a tribute to the lighter trend of superhero cinema aimed at the whole family. “Films are not only mirrors commenting on the reality around us, but also windows into the land of imagination, which allow us to move to a close, yet unknown world, give us a little smile and a break from the prose of everyday life. That’s why ‘Supersister’ is cinema through and through. entertaining, using tropes and storytelling methods known from Hollywood productions, but with a pinch of salt set in the colorful atmosphere of Poland during the transformation period,” we read in the description of the production.

In the description of the film’s plot, we read that one of the heroines of the production will be teenage Ala (Katarzyna Gałązka), who does not fit into the provincial world around her. He still rebels and acts against his father (Grzegorz Damięcki), a physics teacher at the local school. When Ala accidentally discovers that she has superpowers and meets her sister Lena (Karolina Bruchnicka), whom she did not know existed, her life turns upside down – literally.
The trail of girls with supernatural powers is followed by the Colonel (Marek Kalita) and his dangerous companion Hektor (Mateusz Kościukiewicz) from the secret Department 92. The soldiers’ goal is to create a powerful new generation weapon. To get it, they are willing to sacrifice a lot, even the lives of their sisters. After years of separation, will Ala and Lena be able to join forces and cooperate? Will the super sisters set out to save not only each other, but also the world?
