I decided to name my daughter Aaliegha. I really wanted to be called like that when I was little. I liked being able to use different forms, such as Allie or Leah. It’s a beautiful, strong name, so I didn’t understand why everyone, literally everyone, advised me against this choice. But I persisted and got my own way. Today I know it was a mistake. My daughter genuinely hates this name and the only person who can refer to her like this is me.
