What’s the best way to get around Stockholm? You can walk, but not only
Stockholm is a unique and interesting destination, perfect for your first city break. It is beautiful, safe and has a lot to offer. You can explore it both on foot and with public transport, trains and metro.
If you decide on the second option, it is worth getting a longer ticket, e.g. for 72 hours or even a whole week. Especially since it applies to all urban transport. If you plan to visit the most popular attractions, remember that entrance fees to most of them are paid. In such a case, it is a good idea to buy a card that will save you a lot. On its basis, you will visit not only museums, but also, among others, you will sail through the city canals. Since the city is located on 14 islands, which is why it is called the Venice of the North, it is worth using this option.
What’s interesting to see in Stockholm? There are plenty of attractions
Stockholm is worth visiting first of all Gamla Stan, or the Old Town located entirely on three islands, although most often only one is mentioned. Here you will find many narrow, atmospheric streets with cafes, colorful tenement houses and shops, as well as the Royal Palace, the market square, numerous museums and the characteristic Iron Boy, who is the smallest sculpture in all of Sweden.

It’s not just the Old Town that delights. If you are a fan of history presented in an original version, you cannot miss the Skansen, the oldest open-air museum in the world. There is also a ZOO on its premises, where you can see what animals live in Scandinavia. In winter, a large Christmas market takes place in the capital. This is, of course, not the end of the attractions, because each of the islands has something to offer, especially when it comes to museums, of which there are many here. As for other things, while in Stockholm it would be a sin not to try Sweden’s flagship köttbullar meatballs served with sweet and sour jam. So, if you have no plans for , or any other date, it is worth buying a ticket and visiting the Venice of the North. Although the prices on site may be a bit off-putting, the views and a large dose of history presented in an interesting way are worth it.
