UOKiK received many complaints from consumers who complained mainly about charging additional fees for verifying incorrect dimensions of parcels or redirecting parcels to other points without their consent. They became the basis for the initiation of explanatory proceedings in relation to InPost. As a result, they will be collected and dispatched to the parcels from January 1, 2022, as announced by the office on Twitter:
No more problems with how to collect a package from a parcel locker. Significant changes already from the new year
So far, in the case of an overcrowded or broken parcel locker, to another collection point without the consent of the recipient. Only an SMS was sent with the message that the parcel had been placed in a parcel locker other than the selected one. It had to be no more than 2 km in a straight line, but for some users it was a rather bothersome problem. From the new year, in a situation where the parcel locker will not be able to accept our parcel, it will still be redirected, but for a maximum of 24 hours. After this time, the package will be delivered to the destination pickup point, from which the recipient will be able to pick up the package within 48 hours.
How to send a parcel to a parcel locker? From January 1, no worries about an additional fee
Another frequently occurring problem was the PLN 3.68 charged by InPost for incorrect indication of the dimensions of the parcel when sending it. It was noted that such situations often caused logistical problems for the courier when placing parcels in a parcel locker. From the new year, additional fees will not be charged for the discrepancy between the actual size of the package and the declared one.
Non-trading Sundays will no longer be an obstacle. Parcel collection extended
Some parcel lockers are located inside commercial outlets. Therefore, getting to such a pickup point was impossible. This resulted in many recipients receiving a notification that the time to collect the package was over. From January 1, 2022, in such situations, the time to collect the package will be automatically extended by 24 hours.
